If you’ve published something “first”, if you’ve published something “interesting”, if you’ve discovered something cool, you’ll see it getting a lot of response and thus end up being on top of the charts. It can send server crushing traffic your way. Having a good network on social bookmarking websites such as Digg, StumbleUpon helps spread the news fast.

- Social networking: If you haven’t heard of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace then you’re probably sitting beneath a rock. They are the trend now a days, and leveraging the power of these, you can boost up your traffic manifold. Work over building up a decent following and when you need traffic, you just need to send a short pitch to these followers.

- Blogs: There are hundreds of thousands of blogs out there, and you can find a good number of them in any niche. When you comment on their posts, you get their traffic to see those and probably follow you up to your website. It won’t give you a blast of traffic, but certainly worth consideration.

- Forums: If you’ve high post counts at various forums, you may want to leverage the power on your website flips. Put an attention grabbing link in your signature and see traffic tricking in. I’ve personally witnessed thousands of uniques coming this way.
